S2 E11 To Die Well: A Catholic Neurosurgeon’s Guide to the End of Life with Stephen Doran
Most people go through life thinking little of their own death. But the reality is we will all face this one day, and how we die and what we do to prepare for the end of our life has great meaning. The Saints refer to this as Memento Mori, a happy death. In this week's episode, Andrea interviews Stephen Doran, author of To Die Well: A Catholic Neurosurgeon's Guide to End of Life.
Dr. Doran shares his experiences as a neurosurgeon and the many experiences with patients who are faced with end-of-life decisions. He openly talks about the hard conversations that many don't always know how to approach or are uncomfortable addressing.
Stephen Doran, M.D., a board-certified neurosurgeon with over twenty-five years of experience, is an ordained permanent deacon and serves as the bioethicist for the Archdiocese of Omaha. His writings in bioethics, neurosurgery, and gene therapy for brain disorders have been widely published in national media outlets, academic journals, and neurosurgery textbooks. He is married with five sons. Along with his wife, Sharon, he is the cofounder of Seeking Truth Catholic Bible Study. You can connect with Stephen Doran through his ministry steve@stephendoran.com.
